Jarrod Fries is a lighting designer, sound designer, photographer and artist from Orlando, FL. He discovered theater after moving to Houston, TX his senior year of high school. Finding theater design to be the perfect mix of creative and technical thinking, he pursued it at the University of Oklahoma where he graduated in 2021 with a BFA in Theatre Design with an emphasis in sound and lighting design. While at OU, Jarrod enjoyed designing shows of all genres, most notably the lighting design for The Pearl Fishers, The Wolves, a plethora of original and remounted dance productions, as well as the sound design for A Christmas Carol, and original production of The Girl Who Cried Throgmonster at Texas Shakespeare Festival. After graduating, Jarrod continues to live in Oklahoma City where he is working professionally. Most recently he assisted Renee Brode on Swan Lake with Alberta Ballet.
Jarrod’s love for theatre, lighting, and art in general is rooted in the ability to take audiences out of themselves and place them under the influence of the art they are viewing.
